As the Michigan Society of Healthcare Risk Management (MSHRM) begins the new membership year, I am honored to serve as the 2010 – 2011 President. As an organization, MSHRM is committed to providing a high level of value and educational opportunities to our members.

MSHRM is an active, successful organization due to the dedicated participation of our Board, Officers, Committees and members. The generosity of our sponsors has enabled MSHRM to provide high quality educational offerings to the membership.

I am looking forward to an exciting year for MSHRM! We have just completed a member survey and will use the results along with an updated strategic plan to develop a Top 10 list of action items to refine our direction in the coming year. Through the survey, many members expressed interest in serving on a committee. Please contact the committee chairs listed below if you would like more information about a committee or to sign up.

On a personal note, I have been a member of MSHRM since 2002. I joined MSHRM for the educational opportunity to learn more about risk management and patient safety. A wise friend recommended that I join the Education Committee. Over the years I have found that was the best advice!! Serving on a committee, making professional contacts and friendships has made all the difference in my MSRHM experience. I would encourage you to look at the work of the committees and consider participating.
